MNIPA was founded by Minnesota physicians dedicated to preserving the independence of medicine and medical practice. Our mission is to help physicians keep control of clinical decisions and practice management, so they can pursue the best possible outcomes for their patients without undue influence from health plans or provider networks.
What we work on
We work with Minnesota legislators and Minnesota's members of Congress, in both parties, on the issues that decide whether independent physicians can keep practicing and whether patients can get the care their doctors recommend.

Every year more independent practices close or are bought out by large systems, and prices keep climbing. We push for fair payment and real review of practice acquisitions.

What we believe
Keeping Physicians at the Heart of Healthcare
- Patients choose their doctor. Patients must be free to seek care with any licensed physician, regardless of where that physician practices.
- Physicians can practice independently. Physicians have a right to practice outside of large, entrenched multi-specialty groups.
- Buyers get competition. Individuals and companies purchasing health care have a right to choice and competition in the marketplace.
